Warranty Policy

Warranty & RMA Service Terms

📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE - EFFECTIVE DATE: The updated warranty periods below apply to all orders placed on or after June 16, 2026. Orders placed prior to this date are strictly unaffected and will continue to be fully honored under the original terms of their purchase.

1. Tiered Warranty Coverage & Supremacy Clause

To reflect our absolute confidence in the enterprise-grade hardware we supply, Robert Electronics provides dedicated enterprise protection. The warranty duration is strictly determined by the hardware condition listed at the time of purchase:

  • Brand New Units: Covered by a 5-Year Limited Enterprise Warranty from the original purchase date.

  • Factory-Recertified & Enterprise Refurbished Units: Covered by a 1-Year Limited Enterprise Warranty from the original purchase date.

⚠️ Policy Override (Product Page Discrepancies): As we are currently updating our global catalog backend, you may still see legacy text or conflicting warranty lengths on certain individual product descriptions. Please disregard those outdated product page descriptions. In the event of any conflict or discrepancy between an individual product page and this official policy, this document shall strictly prevail.

2. Coverage Scope

  • Mechanical & Firmware Support: We provide comprehensive coverage for internal mechanical failures, the development of bad sectors, and official firmware corruption under standard continuous operating conditions.

  • Hardware Only: This warranty covers the physical hardware component exclusively. Under no circumstances does this warranty cover data recovery services, loss of data, loss of profits, system downtime, or any indirect/consequential damages.

3. Replacement Policy & Turnaround Time

To ensure sustainable global support and address industry-wide supply chain constraints, we adhere to standard enterprise manufacturer replacement protocols:

  • Functional Equivalence: Replacement units are fully vetted and factory-tested. They may be new, factory re-certified, or rigorously reconditioned to meet original manufacturer performance specifications.

  • Model Obsolescence (EOL): If a specific hard drive model is discontinued or out of stock, we reserve the right to provide an alternative model of equivalent or higher specification/capacity at no extra cost to you.

  • Turnaround Time: Due to rigorous quality assurance testing, diagnostic verification, and international stock routing, the standard turnaround time for fully processing and dispatching your replacement drive is 4 to 6 weeks from the day our UK warehouse receives your returned item.

4. RMA Shipping, Logistics & Packaging Rules

We utilize an upfront customer-pay model with post-verification postage reimbursement to ensure fast, localized processing:

  • Inbound Shipping & Upfront Costs: The customer is responsible for the logistics and upfront costs of shipping the defective unit to our designated local UK RMA center.

  • Postage Reimbursement Policy: Once our warehouse tests the drive and confirms a genuine hardware failure, Robert Electronics will reimburse your return shipping costs:

    • Standard returns are reimbursed at a flat rate of £7 per parcel by default.

    • For large bulk quantities, we will reimburse actual postage costs strictly via Royal Mail upon receiving a screenshot proof of your postage receipt.

    • ⚠️ Exclusions: We do not accept or reimburse return shipments sent via DHL, FedEx, EVRI, or other alternative couriers.

  • Outbound Shipping: Robert Electronics will fully cover the cost of shipping the final replacement unit back to your address.

  • Protective Packaging Mandatory Requirement: Hard drives are highly shock-sensitive. You must pack the drive securely with protective foam inserts to prevent transit damage. If a drive is returned without adequate protective packaging and suffers transportation shock or damage, the RMA claim will be rejected immediately, and we will not be responsible for any return shipping costs.

  • RMA Authorization: A valid RMA number must be requested from sales@robertelectronics.co.uk and clearly visible on the outside of the package. Any units sent without prior authorization will result in the immediate forfeiture of warranty rights.

5. Warranty Exclusions (Void Criteria)

This warranty will be rendered completely null and void if the returned product exhibits any of the following:

  • Physical Damage: Signs of external impact, dropped units, crushed or dented casings, bent interface connectors, or deep scratches.

  • Tampering: Broken, broken-through, or removed factory seals; opened drive top-covers; removed manufacturer labels; or unauthorized third-party repair attempts.

  • Environmental Neglect: Damage resulting from power surges, improper voltage supply, liquid exposure, fire, extreme temperatures, or improper enclosure installation.

  • Refusal to Return: Failure to physically return the original defective drive to our warehouse will result in the immediate cancellation of the warranty claim and all future support.
